Questions for data practitioners

I am working on a data product called Querio, and I have a lot of questions for data practitioners.

Mostly, I want to understand the problems they are actually solving. I am also interested in the meta-problems that appear around those problems.

Questions I have

What problems are you trying to solve right now?

What makes those problems difficult?

What problems keep returning even after you think you have solved them?

What new problems appear because of the tools, processes, or workarounds you already use?

Which parts of the work take more time or attention than they should?

What have you accepted as normal that probably should not be normal?

Possible framing

YC publishes Requests for Startups: descriptions of problems or opportunities that it believes somebody should pursue.

Maybe there is a useful version of that framing for data practitioners. Instead of beginning with product ideas, begin with requests grounded in the problems people doing data work repeatedly encounter.

What would a request for a data product look like?

What would data practitioners ask somebody to build if they could describe the problem without first having to prescribe the solution?
